At this Christmas season, will we fall on our knees and worship the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, maker of heaven and earth? Or will we worship man, said to be made in his image? Our Lord exists, for surely our world has been created with an abundance of beauty and all sorts of assuring providence.
We were created to care for and bond with each other in friendship. Also, in unique circumstances we all, gay or straight, can experience limerence, the falling head over heels in love with a particular person. That emotional passion is significantly controlling and takes us largely beyond cognitive restraints. Gays do fall in love as deeply and intensely as heterosexuals, and many have fashioned caring relationships that can and do last a lifetime. Homosexuality is certainly based on much more than sexuality.
I am familiar with the trek. I also suffered loneliness as I searched for “Mr. Perfect,” the friend, buddy, and mate I had sadly begun to believe could never be found. But it happened, and I was smitten the first moment I saw Brad. He fit the mold I had fashioned. Our love was mutual, and our togetherness proved to be affirming and wonderful. Then I hit a wall and had to take a different path.
In the process, I learned things that I believe could help others who are willing to consider alternative views about the purpose and process of same-sex attraction and sexuality.
