It must be re-emphasized: there is a definable pattern of etiological factors in the evolution of homosexual identity and behavior. These rationally related factors, variations on a theme, are present too often to be dismissed as superfluous and only non-causal correlates.

Maternal care of male children, whatever the exigency or circumstance, must never overshadow or preclude development of that essential, time-sensitive, positive father-son tie.
Same-sex attraction and sexuality evidence inadequate or disordered socialization through crucial, foundational periods of psychological growth. Acknowledging specific deficits can encourage both compassion and the provision of healing rapport between heterosexual males and those who grew up gay.
