I want to respond to a recent comment. It is most difficult to discover truth when it is artfully camouflaged and hidden among error. A useful example is the statement of a recent TikTok viewer who asserted: “There’s nothing wrong or unnatural about being gay.” The terms “wrong” and “unnatural” are not synonymous and need to be treated separately. If genitalia are essentially designed for the production of progeny, then same-sex sexuality is sterile and barren, therefore wrong because it cannot provide this. If being gay means being legitimately needful, particularly for the love and fellowship of other admirable men, that is true, and well to be affirmed. Considering the fractured and disordered developmental backgrounds of those who become gay, same-sex orientation is indeed natural. However, if gay means being biologically programmed prior to birth to be drawn erotically to others of one’s own sex, then the statement is false. No scientific data suggests otherwise. Homosexuality evolves through naïve responses to adverse circumstances. Patterns of irregular personal growth to deal with interpersonal trauma and a few other factors are easily recognized. Being gay certainly does not justify rejection or abuse of oneself or from others. I know personally that corrective emotional experiences can be life-changing.
